About the Book: Stetson Maine is located in the southwest corner of Penobscot County, bordering Exeter, Newport, Etna, Carmel, and Levant.
In 1800 white settlers began to appear, Robert Patten is given credit for being the first. The earliest settlers included Isaac and Elizabeth (Sweet) Clark, Jeremiah and Mary Ann (Coburn) Goodwin, James and Clarissa (Wiggin) Rogers, and Thorndike/Thorndick and Sally (Cole) Allen. The population in 1830 was 114. But within 10 years the population grew to 616!
This book includes 3 books of records available on microfilm, and 6 others that were never microfilmed. It includes Births, Marriages, and Deaths ca 1800 to 1939, except for some years that do not appear to survive.
Our Vital Records series includes data from early town records as transcribed from images of original documents. Births, Deaths, and Marriages are just some of the records that have been transcribed as part of this collection. Also included in some books are early church records, warnings out, cattle marks, town meeting information and disputes between neighbors. There is a wealth of information in town vital records and we're extremely proud to be able to share this information with the masses.
